Flying the British Fashion Flag

I took a trip to Somerset House at the beginning of this week to check out the atmosphere and find out what was happening on the British Fashion scene for Autumn 2013.  There seemed to be more action outside the tents than in them with people taking pictures of people taking pictures. At least it was a wonderfully sunny afternoon as I wandered around.

I found the architecture of Somerset House somewhat more elegant than many of the outfits worn by the fashion crowd

All in all I think I am more comfortable sitting in the warm comfort of home in front of my computer watching the shows being streamed live on the London Fashion week website. Highlights here

As many other bloggers are focusing on the bigger name designers I thought I would search out some lesser known names on the British Fashion scene and expose some new creativity bursting on the scene. Here are a few I have selected out of many focusing on what might just inspire us grown up women.

For someone who has not yet got their head around Spring this is a bit in advance, However I do think that doing some time travel into the future can help give us a perspective on purchases that we make for Spring that will have longevity into the Autumn.

The highlight of my afternoon was meeting one of my favourite bloggers Thatsnotmyage.

I love her coat, originally from Liberty, from her fashion editor days, brand called CH.IND ( her clever version of Miu Miu double denim.)
If you are not familiar with her blog do pop over and take a look. I find her writing inspirational and informative and very appropriate for grown up women. She is certainly a blogger that flies the flag for chic and appropriate fashion. Enjoy.

Thank you for reading. I really love to hear from you and appreciate the time you take to leave comments.

I read your blog regularly & love this post . My interest in the fashion weeks is close to zero but you have shown that there are some great designers out there making clothes that people of our age can wear . I especially like Margaret Howell , her clothes are so beautifully made too , sometimes the inside is more impressive than the outside with exquisite tailoring details . Fortunately we have an outlet store near us which brings them into my price range , but I will have to be patient & wait for that lovely coat to arrive , if it does .

I like all your choices, especially the mustard colour coat dress, but I've never ever seen the attraction of Margaret Howell's clothes. I even went to the shop once to see them in the flesh, but still don't see what all the fuss is about!

How cool is TNMA?
I can't bear fashion shows, it all bores me to death, like you the best part is the architecture of Somerset House!
